Funding for Wasp (2005) - Andrea Arnold

The production company behind Wasp was Cowboy Films. They were granted £53,250 from UK Film Councils New Cinema Fund. Half of this was provided by New Cinema Fund, and the other half was provided by FilmFour. Music rights and promotions, especially concerning film festivals, was covered by the UK Film Council. Obviously promotions at film festivals garnered the film attention, and it's media attention got it noticed in the Oscar race. It won the best short film, live action Oscar in 2005. The award was presented to Andrea Arnold, the director, who has subsequently made two more films, Red Road and Fish Tank, of which the latter is up for a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Film. Natalie Press, who plays Zoe, has landed numerous TV and film roles ever since. She's appeared in BBC hit dramas Bleak House and Silent Witness. She appeared in the recent political thriller Fifty Dead Men Walking and another British film, My Summer of Love. Danny Dyer was already a name in the industry, but after Wasp he landed roles in the Football Factory and The Business, films where he cemented his name as a British star.
